Research in Computer Science offers the opportunity to explore fascinating topics and pursue your ideas. The School of Computing's eminent faculty actively conducts research in a myriad of fields; their work is recognized and respected worldwide. You can complete a research-, project- or course-based Master's in the School of Computing two years or less.


Following your research-based Master's, you can complete a PhD in the School of Computing within four years.

Prospective Students

You can join the School of Computing in a few simple steps:

  1. Review our research groups and faculty members.
  2. Check our admissions requirements.
  3. Apply on-line by January 15, 2021. The application is done on a separate site managed by the School of Graduate Studies.
  4. Contact a potential supervisor and tell them of your application.

Offers are normally made between February and June. More details about how to apply can be found on the School of Graduate Studies website.

Our program is geared for a September start, so this is the normal date for admission to all graduate programs. Admission for January or May, may be possible for Ph.D. applicants.

Common Misconceptions

All graduate students in research programs receive minimum guaranteed funding from the School of Computing, so pursuing a graduate degree does not require student debt. You can also apply with a degree in another field if you have sufficient background and/or education in Computing. Graduate studies can work for you.
