This program provides opportunities for graduate students to expand their learning and research, and to enhance their academic mentoring by including faculty from both Queen's and the American University of Sharjah (UAE).
Program Structure
- 2-year program and the student receives two MSc degrees (from Queen's and American University of Sharjah, UAE). The requirements for each degree have to be fulfilled.
- The student will have a supervisor at both universities. A Queen's student can be nominated for the dual degree program. The student must identify an initial research supervisor before joining AUS.
- For Queen's students: complete 3 courses at Queen's (including CISC 897). The student will complete 5 courses at AUS.
- The thesis research is collaboratively supervised between the two institutions. The thesis committee will consist of faculty from both institutions.
Eligibility Criteria
- Each home institution will be responsible for selecting their participating students. Each home institution will nominate students to the host institution. Students will be nominated based on academic merit, past work and extracurricular experiences, as well as a demonstration of strong motivation to participate in the program. The host institution shall make the final admission decision regarding those nominated based upon the existing admission criteria of the host institution.
- Dual degree students must meet all eligibility requirements for admission to each graduate program and must follow the normal application process for graduate admission to each institution, including meeting the English language requirement for the host institution.
- The home institution will send a complete file for each dual degree program student to the host institution. The file of each student will be sent before the deadline given below and will include the following documents: a. Official transcripts of the student's previous and current university-level studies, and; b. A copy of the student’s passport, obtained with the permission of the student.
- The student's file must be received by the host institution before 15 February preceding the beginning of the student's first term of study in the dual degree program at the host institution.
