With the support of alumni donations, the School was able to provide a grant in support of the 2024 Canadian Undergraduate Conference on AI (CUCAI). This grant helped 22 Queen’s students attend the conference, form meaningful connections, and gain important industry insights. Below are just a few of the many positive testimonials that the sponsored attendees shared after the event. We’d like to extend a special thank you to the CUCAI organizing team for preparing a fantastic event for our students and for collecting their testimonials!
“CUCAI provided me with an eye-opening experience to a fast-growing industry. From workshops, speakers, to the research conference, I was able to (a) learn about advances in the field (b) educate myself on future directions (c) network with industry professionals who were welcoming in helping me explore AI at large. This experience was truly incomparable to other available avenues to learning about the field at the university level and I will undoubtedly come many times more.”
“Attending CUCAI 2024 was an amazing experience that deepened my knowledge of artificial intelligence while also connecting me with some of the most passionate and innovative young minds in the field.”
“Attending the CUCAI conference this year proved to be an invaluable experience for both myself and my team. Over the course of the past six months, we dedicated ourselves wholeheartedly to our projects, and witnessing our efforts come to life was nothing short of gratifying. The conference provided an exceptional platform for us to showcase our project, offering the opportunity to gain insights and expertise from fellow scholars and experts from universities across North America and beyond.”
“The CUCAI event was a game-changer for me. It wasn’t about flashy tech or fancy talks; it was the people that made it special. Everyone I met was so real and passionate—it was contagious. Being there, I felt a spark. It made me see things differently, like I could actually do something meaningful with my ideas. CUCAI showed me it’s not just about dreaming big but also about the community you’re part of. I left feeling super inspired and ready to get my hands dirty with projects that matter.”
“Participating in CUCAI has been an amazing experience from which I have learned a lot. Presenting a project national level was at first daunting but I managed to improve my communication and time management skills to present efficiently and on time. It was also the first time writing an academic research paper and it was an excellent learning experience from the detailed guidance that was given by QMind, which was very helpful since I plan on going to graduate school and this is a great opportunity to present and learn about academic writing.”
“CUCAI was the most enriching and motivating experience of my time at Queen’s thus far. The conference was incredibly impressive, smooth-running, and was an excellent opportunity for post-secondary AI enthusiasts to engage with the forefront of AI across sectors, all while connecting with remarkable role models and the broader undergraduate AI community across Canada.”
