School of Computing scores big in Game Development Competitions
Members of the Queen’s School of Computing have recently stood out in two game design competitions.
First, two groups from the School recently participated in the Ludum Dare game jam, where people from around the world compete over four days to design and implement a complete game.
Recent graduate Zi Ye created the game “Escape Character”, which won second place in the group competition, of 1,365 entries. Zi’s amusing and innovative game is now available.
Matthew Ishii, Mallory Ketcheson, Daniel Moran and Cheryl Savery created the game “Dog Pile” and received very positive comments from the reviewers.
Second, members of the School have been teaming up with students in the School of Business to compete in the Microsoft Imagine Cup. The first phase of this competition was the Pitch Video Challenge. The team consisting of Susan Hwang, Tianbin Jiang and Gabrielle Quilliam of the School of Computing and Alex De Rosa of the School of Business received an Honourable Mention in the Games Category, competing against teams from around the world.
