The iStudio team represented Queen’s University at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh at the 2023 Conference on Designing Interactive Systems. They presented two of their lab’s interioraction research publications.
The first is a collaboration between Queen’s ECE Aiim Lab and iStudio Lab and is aimed at enriching the user experience of in-car media interactions. The publication describes a method of making car sensors using e-textiles embedded into the vehicle’s fabric for eye-free media control, which is safer than multi-touch screens.
The second publication is an artistic collaboration with independent artist Greta Grip, Dr. Lee Jones, and Dr. Sara Nabil, on using digital knitting machines to craft wearable biodata portraits.
